SRINAGAR: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday chaired a review meeting in New Delhi to assess the security situation in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. This meeting was prompted by the recent surge in militant attacks.

Top officials of MHA participated in the meeting. National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary, Chief of Army Staff, Director (IB), Heads of CAPFs, Chief Secretary & DGP, UT of Jammu and Kashmir attended the meeting held in New Delhi.

During the meeting, Amit Shah reviewed the area domination plan of security agencies in Jammu and Kashmir to eliminate the threat of militancy.

The Home Minister also stressed the need to boost and strengthen local intelligence in the Union Territory.

While reviewing the functioning of the security grid and overall security scenario of Jammu and Kashmir,  Shah instructed to strengthen the counter-militancy operations and the need for the complete elimination of the terror ecosystem.

He also advised the security agencies for appropriate deployment in vulnerable areas. He reiterated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government will continue to adopt a zero-tolerance approach against militancy.

The meeting occurred in the aftermath of recent attacks, including the loss of four soldiers and injuries to three others in an encounter in Rajouri’s Poonch region on December 21.
