SRINAGAR: In response to the prolonged and unusual dry spell in the Kashmir Valley, the Wildlife Department has imposed a ban on unauthorized entry into forests and Wildlife Protected Areas.
As outlined in a notice, the department has issued a directive urging individuals not to enter the forests, particularly Wildlife Protected Areas falling within its jurisdiction, without proper authorization.
“Due to the extended dry spell prevailing in the Valley, instances of forest fires have been reported, and there is a significant concern about further incidents. It is advised that nobody engages in unauthorized entry for any activities in the forests, especially those designated as Wildlife Protected Areas, without obtaining prior permission,” states the notice.
The notice specifies that entry is specifically prohibited in Brane, Nishat Conservation Reserve, Dachigam National Park, Dara Conservation Reserve, Khrew/Khanmoh Conservation Reserve, Wangath Conservation Reserve, and Thajwas Wildlife Sanctuary.
“Anyone discovered within forests and Wildlife Protected areas will face strict consequences in accordance with the provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act,” it further warns. (KNO)
