The advisory, issued by the office of the Chairman District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) and Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, highlights steps to reduce the risk of heat stroke, dehydration, and complications in individuals with pre-existing conditions.

The public has been advised to stay indoors during peak heat hours (11 AM to 4 PM), stay hydrated, wear light-coloured cotton clothes, and use hats, umbrellas, or sunscreen when outdoors. Residents have also been asked to keep indoor areas cool using fans, curtains, or coolers and check on vulnerable individuals such as elderly persons, children, and those with chronic illnesses.

The advisory warns against direct exposure to midday sun, leaving children or pets in parked vehicles, engaging in strenuous activity during hot hours, and consuming alcohol, caffeine, or heavy meals.

Departments have been directed to ensure continuous water and power supply, maintain readiness in healthcare facilities, and run awareness campaigns. They have also been asked to restrict outdoor labour during high heat, avoid scheduling outdoor public events, and ensure prompt redressal of public grievances related to power or water supply.

The Health Department has been instructed to set up heat stroke clinics and ensure the availability of Oral Rehydration Solutions (ORS), essential medicines, and emergency care resources.

The administration has appealed to the public to follow the guidelines and cooperate with authorities to reduce the health impact of the ongoing heat wave.
