SRINAGAR: Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, Former Minister and Senior National Conference leader, expressed disappointment with the nine years of BJP government, describing it as an era of broken promises.

Speaking at a meeting in the Jammu North Assembly Constituency, Sadhotra highlighted the people’s anger towards the government’s policies and their determination to vote the BJP out of power.

Sadhotra accused BJP of exploiting religious sentiments, inciting nationalist passions, and creating divisions between communities to maintain their hold on power. He stated, “Now that the BJP stands exposed for failure on all fronts and pushing the nation into crisis-like situations, it has resorted to visiting the doorsteps of the alienated people, but the response is clear.”

Questioning the BJP’s slogan of “ACHHE DIN AAYENGE” (Good days will come), Sadhotra asked whether nine years of misgovernance have brought any positive changes for the poor and ordinary people of the country.

Sadhotra further criticised the BJP for failing to fulfil its promises, such as depositing £15 lakh in every Indian family’s account, bringing back black money, creating two crore jobs per year, doubling farmers’ income, and implementing people-friendly policies for economic growth and national security. He highlighted rising unemployment, inflation, corruption, nepotism, and the overall uncertain future under the present government.

Referring to the Ujwala Scheme, Sadhotra criticised the BJP for creating excitement over free LPG connections but leaving poor women to fend for themselves after the initial delivery of only a few cylinders.

Turning his attention to Jammu and Kashmir, Sadhotra emphasised the suffering of the poor and youth due to BJP’s misgovernance. He criticised the lack of employment opportunities and the burden placed on young students in pursuing higher education. The introduction of a nationwide competition for admissions has made the process cumbersome, and candidates face uncertainty regarding examination centres outside the Union Territory.

Sadhotra also lamented the inadequate utility services, failed Smart City concept, chaotic road networks, and shortages of power and drinking water in Jammu. He described the past nine years under the BJP government as disastrous for the nation’s future and vowed that people are determined to vote them out in the 2024 elections.
