SRINAGAR: The Government of India on Thursday held an all-party meeting to brief political leaders on Operation Sindoor, a series of missile strikes carried out by Indian armed forces targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians.

The meeting, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, began at 11 am at the Parliament Library Building in New Delhi. Key ministers including Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, BJP President JP Nadda, and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman represented the government.

Senior opposition leaders including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, TMC’s Sudip Bandyopadhyay, DMK’s T R Baalu, and others attended the briefing. Leaders from the Samajwadi Party, Aam Aadmi Party, Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (SP), BJD, CPI(M), JD(U), LJP (Ram Vilas), and AIMIM were also present.

Briefing the gathering, Singh outlined the objectives and execution of Operation Sindoor, stating it successfully targeted nine terror facilities including those linked to Jaish-e-Mohammad in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Muridke. The strikes, he said, demonstrated India’s resolve to respond to terrorism with strength.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju conveyed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message, underlining the government’s “zero tolerance” policy against terrorism and the need for national unity.

Most political leaders expressed support for the armed forces and the government’s response. Congress leaders condemned the Pahalgam killings and assured support for counter-terror measures. TMC leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay praised the armed forces and called the operation a moment of national pride. Similar sentiments were echoed by leaders from DMK, BJD, AIMIM, and others.

Congress, however, noted that it would have preferred the Prime Minister to personally lead the meeting given the situation’s seriousness.

This was the second such all-party briefing in two weeks, reflecting continued political engagement amid rising tensions with Pakistan.
