SRINAGAR: Commercial LPG cylinder prices were increased by Rs 195.50 on Wednesday amid a sharp rise in global crude oil rates, driven by ongoing conflict in West Asia.
Following the revision, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has risen to Rs 2,078.50. This comes after a previous hike of Rs 114.50 per cylinder on March 1, reflecting a continued upward trend in commercial fuel prices.
In contrast, domestic LPG prices remain unchanged. The 14.2-kg household cooking gas cylinder continues to cost Rs 913 in Delhi. The last revision in domestic rates was carried out on March 7, when prices were increased by Rs 60 per cylinder.
Officials from state-run oil marketing companies, including Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum, stated that LPG prices are revised on the first day of every month based on international fuel benchmarks and fluctuations in foreign exchange rates.
The recent surge in global oil prices—reportedly close to 50 percent—has been attributed to disruptions in energy supply chains due to escalating tensions in West Asia. This has particularly affected commercial LPG, widely used by hotels, restaurants, and small businesses.
Meanwhile, petrol and diesel prices remain unchanged. Fuel rates have been stable since March last year, when a Rs 2 per litre reduction was announced. In the national capital, petrol is priced at Rs 94.72 per litre and diesel at Rs 87.62 per litre.
The increase in commercial LPG prices is expected to raise operating costs for businesses dependent on the fuel, while domestic consumers continue to be shielded from any immediate price change in household cooking gas.
