The administration in north Kashmir’s Kupwara on Tuesday extended prohibitory orders till May 3, banning the inter-district movement of people but eased restrictions for horticultural and agricultural activities in the border district.

Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Anshul Garg Tuesday issued an order extending restrictions under Section 144CrPC on the movement of public and transport throughout the district till May 3.

The order issued today vide number 49 DMK of ADM 2020 with modifications to previous ones, says that there shall be complete restrictions on entry and exit of persons and vehicles into or from the district without a valid permit issued by the competent authority.

The order also states that any movement in or out of the Red-Zones remains prohibited except with specific permission issued by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kupwara on the recommendations of Nodal Officer designated for Red-Zones.

“The movement of paramedical staff deployed for COVID Hospital Kupwara shall be strictly through SRTC buses placed at the disposal of CMO and no individual permits shall be issued by this office,” reads the order.

“The system of color-coded passes for officers/officials pertaining to essential services shall continue and no movement shall be permitted without such passes issued by the undersigned only,” it reads.

However, the fresh directive by DC has given some relief to the people associated with horticulture and agriculture activities.

According to the order, seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides stores can remain open for two hours daily from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
