SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Sunday distributed job letters to around 3000 youth who were selected by JKSSB as ‘multi-tasking staff’. While the Chief Secretary presided over a grand function in Jammu, all the Deputy Commissioner’s distributed job letters t the selected candidates at functions arranged within the districts.

“There has been more than 30000 recruitments made in the government sector after 2019 in J&K,” Chief Secretary, Dr AK Mehta was quoted as saying by the official spokesman. He encouraged all to work hard as merit will be the sole criterion to get selected. “Our priority is to ensure that not a single person is favoured in terms of securing government jobs as the era of backdoor appointments into government jobs has ended.”

Mehta said the process of verifications, which earlier took months, is now completed online within days.

These candidates have been appointed to different posts in GAD, Skill Development Department, Labour Department, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Jal Shakti, Agriculture,  Finance, and School Education Departments.

Similar functions were organised across Jammu and Kashmir. In Anantnag, Deputy Commissioner, Dr Basharat Qayoom distributed appointment letters among 120 appointees at Dak Bungalow Anantnag.

At Kulgam and Shopian, function were organised in mini Secretariats for the distribution of job letters but the official spokesman offered no numbers.

At Bandipora, 93 job letters were distributed.

In Kupwara, the Deputy Commissioner distributed job letters to 110 selected youth. Doifode Sagar Dattatray said the district administration made efforts on a war footing basis to complete the verification and other formalities of the appointees within less than 6 days which is history, as otherwise it used to take months.

At Budgam, a grand function was organised in Sports Ground Sheikhpora where the audience witnessed Rozgar Mela launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually. The official spokesman, however, did not offer the number of job letters distributed. The number of candidates who were given job letters in Ganderbal and Baramulla was not also known.

At Samba, 200 youth were handed over job letters by the District Development Council Chairman Keshav Dutt Sharma.

The official spokesman said Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal handed over 100 appointment letters to newly appointed sub-auditors and class IV employees.

At Reasi, Chairperson, District Development Council, Saraf Singh Nag, handed over appointment letters to 67 candidates.

At Kathua, as many as 156 youth appointed for different posts of Government departments were given appointment letters.

At Poonch, the official spokesman said, the Deputy Commissioner, Inder Jeet handed over 91 appointment letters to newly appointed “Sub-Editors and class IV employees”.

At Udhampur, the spokesman said, “an impressive function was organised by District Administration Udhampur wherein District Development Council Chairperson, Lal Chand, handed over appointment letters to 170 candidates selected by J&K Service Selection Board under Rozgar Mela.”

At Ramban, Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam handed over the appointment letters to 57 newly selected candidates for the post of MTS deputed in various departments including Revenue, Health and Medical Education, Forest, Agriculture, PWD, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Animal and Sheep Husbandry in district Ramban.

The government, it may be recalled here, re-designated Class-IV positions as Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) on March 30, 2022.
