SRINAGAR: With the annual Amarnath Yatra set to commence on July 3, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha conducted separate high-level reviews of the final arrangements to ensure the safe, smooth and spiritually fulfilling conduct of the pilgrimage.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a high-level meeting in Srinagar with top police and civil officials, including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, DGP Nalin Prabhat, Additional Chief Secretary Shaleen Kabra, Principal Secretary (Home) Chandraker Bharti, and SASB CEO Dr Mandeep K. Bhandari, among others.
The LG took stock of traffic and security arrangements, directing widespread publicity of traffic advisories to minimise inconvenience for the general public. “District administrations, SSPs, traffic police and stakeholder departments must work in close coordination to ensure designated convoy movement and smooth implementation of the traffic plan,” he said.
He also instructed Deputy Commissioners to ensure that lodgement centres and sanitation facilities are in optimal condition.
Chief Secretary Dulloo separately visited the Yatri Niwas base camp at Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu to inspect on-ground preparations. Accompanied by senior officers from civil and police administration, he examined critical facilities including accommodation, sanitation, power supply, security provisions, and registration counters. Stressing the importance of minimising pilgrim wait times, he instructed officials to increase the number of registration counters.
Dulloo also reviewed the 24×7 control room established to monitor all yatra-related activities and later chaired a detailed inter-departmental coordination meeting. “Every department has worked with utmost dedication to create a conducive environment for the pilgrims,” he remarked, urging departments to ensure the yatra is not only safe and seamless but also a memorable experience for the devotees.
He further instructed the Department of Information to launch a targeted media campaign to provide real-time updates on weather, traffic and advisories to ensure clarity and confidence among pilgrims.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar briefed the Chief Secretary about the upgraded infrastructure and enhanced support services compared to previous years. IGP Jammu Bhim Sen Tuti shared the multi-layered security and traffic management plan in coordination with other agencies.
