Held in the presence of Principal Secretary, Home Department, Chandraker Bharti, and other senior officials, the meeting focused on key issues affecting retired armed forces personnel. Among the primary concerns discussed were the creation and digitisation of a comprehensive database of Ex-Servicemen in JK for effective cadre management, and proposals to permit job applications under the ‘Ex-Servicemen Quota’ during the final year of military service to ease the transition into civilian employment.

The meeting also explored engaging retired personnel as NCC trainers, capitalising on their discipline and experience. Special attention was paid to improving livelihood opportunities for Veer Naris (war widows) and strengthening the functioning of the Sainik Welfare Board across districts. Additional administrative measures aimed at simplifying service-related issue resolution were also reviewed.

Expressing the Centre’s continued commitment, Dr Chandra reiterated the Ministry’s deep gratitude towards Ex-Servicemen, particularly those from Jammu and Kashmir. He assured that existing welfare schemes would be expanded and that job reservations for retired personnel would remain a priority.

Chief Secretary Dulloo acknowledged the sacrifices made by Ex-Servicemen, affirming the administration’s proactive approach towards their welfare. “The nation remains indebted to their service,” he stated, pledging continued efforts to ensure Ex-Servicemen lead dignified and secure post-retirement lives.
