Scores of students Tuesday staged protest demonstrations at Mushtaq Ali Enclave (Press Colony) here, demanding deferment of planned exam of class 10 and class 12 till March-2017.

The students said that if the government is not desirous to hold by-elections in south Kashmir, “How can they are forcing students to appear in exams?”

“If government says that atmosphere is not conducive for polls, what suggests that atmosphere is conducive for exams,” they questioned.

“The government has made holding of exams a point of prestige for itself. Some of the ministers are more concern for their ego and least bothered about students,” they told KNS.

They students said that representatives of students of both classes from all reputed, private and government schools called on Chief Minister this morning.

“She said that exams will be conducted at time. She also said that students have personal choice to appear or not to appear,” they claimed.

They said that deferment of exams was “plus point” for this government. “There is lot of anger on ground against the government on various issues from past three months. Now, CM could have acted wisely and at least fulfilled the demand of students. It was her plus point,” they said.

“We are hopeful that students won’t be disappointed as deferment of exams is not related to any law and order problem or security of state issue,” they said.
