The anger on streets continues to be exhibited in Himalayan region of Kashmir on consecutive 20th day.

Reports reaching here across Kashmir suggest people are angry and normalcy is “too far to be expected”.

Reports from Old Srinagar late Thursday said that people marched across the Shahr-e-Khaas holding mashaals.

The current mass uprising was triggered when popular militant commander Burhan Wani was killed by forces in Kokernag area of South Kashmir on July 08, 2016 evening.

It has been 20th consecutive day that people are marching on streets and holding protests raising pro-freedom slogans.

At least 52 civilians were killed by forces in the uprising since July 09, 2016 and thousands were injured.

On Thursday evening, reports from Chawalgam Kulgam said that forces entered the area beating up the populace. However, people in huge numbers came out on rods protesting the “excesses”. The local reports suggest that stone pelting was going on in the area in the day.

“Police came out in army fatigues late in the night and started damaging properties and beating locals,” a local from the area said. “It was only after when some of the police men were identified and people started protesting.”

From Dooru area, people held a candle light protest demonstration late Thursday evening.

From South Kashmir’s Pulwama, reports said, that people held late evening protests against the civilian killings.

People marched through localities in peripheries of Pulwama. As asked by resistance leadership, people also observed black out in between 8 and 9 PM.

Early in the day, thousands of people attacked a CRPF camp in Tahab area. At least 20 unarmed civilians were injured of which 9 were hit by pellets.

Similar reports reached from Hawl area of Pulwama where people held protests.

From Rajpora area, locals said that a Panchayat Ghar was destroyed in Bellow area. The same Panchayat Ghar was damaged in 2010 when it was burnt down.

From North Kashmir’s Baramulla, reports said that intense clashes erupted in Old town and protests continued till late in the evening. People in the peripheries also held pro-freedom demonstrations.

In summer capital Srinagar, observed black out from 8 to 9 PM on Thursday while rallies holding mashaals were taken out.

“Azaadi” songs were played through Masjid loud speakers while reports of protests reached from Habba Kadal area as well late Thursday evening. Similar reports reached from Safakadal as well.
