Principal Government Medical College Srinagar has asked authorities to rein in CRPF personnel allegedly involved in manhandling of medical staff and damaging hospital property in capital city Srinagar.
After common people now government functionaries have started raising their voices against the atrocities inflicted by CRPF on employees and medical staff.
Principal Government Medical College Srinagar Dr Qaisar Ahmed told news agency CNS that they received a complaint from a staffer who alleged that CRPF personnel manhandled him near Nawab Bazar Srinagar.
“This is not the first complaint we have received from any staffer but prior to this SMHS hospital employees levelled allegations against CRPF for violating the law,” he said.
In a letter addressed to Srinagar’s District Development Commissioner (DDC), Dr Qaiser Ahmad, Principal of the Government Medical College has sought investigation into the “thrashing” of a medical employee at the Nawa Bazaar area on Wednesday.
“An employee, Muhammad Hanief Khan, was beaten up by CRPF personnel at 10 a.m. when he was on the way to attend his duties,” he has said in the letter.
Seeking investigation into the incident, the GMC has called for “appropriate action against the personnel so that the hospital staff are not harassed while performing professional duties.”
Doctors have been continuously accusing CRPF of using extra force and harassing Para-medical staff. They have even alleged that CRPF personnel caused heavy damage to hospital ambulances.
“The staffers from SMHS, SKIMS and JVC hospitals are being harassed on daily basis and this continues we will hit to roads and register a protest,” said a doctor.
Pertinently, people have been accusing CRPF of harassment across Kashmir. Besides Srinagar city, there are allegations of CRPF excesses in Islamabad, Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam and Baramulla districts where they have caused damage to both public and property.
