Various Sikh organizations of J&K including Sikh Intellectuals Circle Jammu Kashmir (SIC-JK), Shiromani Akali Dal – Amritsar (SAd-Asr), International Sikh Federation (ISF) and Sikh Students Federation (SSF) have expressed their solidarity with “indigenous Kashmir Movement” for ‘Right to Self Determination’ as per UN resolutions and condemned continuous use of “brutal” force in Kashmir.

“Sikh leaders of these organizations have expressed solidarity with the indigenous Kashmir Movement and also appealed that the Kashmir Issue should be resolved through a proper political dialogue,” a statement issued by SIC-JK said Monday afternoon.

While addressing a joint press conference, Chairperson of Sikh Intellectuals Circle Sardar Narinder Singh Khalsa said, “the Sikh community fully endorses the peaceful political protest programme being initiated by the joint resistance leadership of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Mohammad Yasin Malik and others.”

He also said that mass uprising in Kashmir “can’t be suppressed with the excessive use of force”.

Khalsa while condemning the killing spree in Kashmir, excessive use of pellet gun, ransacking of houses and other property by forces, appealed the world community, UNO and Human Rights Organisations to take serious notice of such “state sponsored” brutality against peaceful mass-uprising in Kashmir.

He also strongly condemned the “desecration” of ‘Gurudwara Sahib’ in Islamabad by forces and also appealed the Sikh community worldwide to render all sorts of humanitarian help and moral support to the people of Jammu & Kashmir at this crucial juncture.

“Non-resolution of J&K dispute is the real cause of the entire unrest, so there is a need to understand anguish and distress of people of the state (J&K) and not dismiss it by saying that it’s entirely Pak sponsored or 5% people are hijacking the Kashmir issue,” he said.

Other Sikh leaders present during this joint press were Bhai Gurdev Singh (J&K President, SAD-ASR), Sardar Bikram Singh (Secretary, ISF), Sardar Amanjit Singh (Secretary, SIC-JK), Sardar Manmit Singh (Secretary, SIC-JK), Sardar Surinder Singh, Sardar Ranjit Singh, Sardar Jaspal Singh, & Sardar Manmohan Singh.

Sardar Narinder Singh Khalsa also said that the delegation also visited various hospitals of Srinagar and met the victims.

“Other than this we also distributed medicines and essential commodities to the needy,” he said.

Khalsa said that they also visited the houses of several victims and expressed solidarity with the affected families.

“We, on behalf of the entire Sikh community of J&K, appeal both India and Pakistan to engage themselves along with the people of J&K in a meaningful and constructive dialogue process for peaceful resolution of J&K dispute, so that innocent killings get stopped and peace is restored in Kashmir and entire South-Asia,” he concluded.
