SRINAGAR: Doodhpathri, a major tourist destination in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, was reopened to visitors on Friday after remaining temporarily closed due to adverse weather and the risk of flash floods and landslides.
The reopening has brought relief to traders, pony operators, cab drivers, food stall owners and other people whose livelihoods depend on tourism at the destination.
Local stakeholders welcomed the authorities’ decision, saying the resumption of tourist activity would help revive businesses and restore income for families dependent on visitor footfall.
Doodhpathri had been closed after continuous rainfall raised concerns over flash floods and landslides, particularly along roads leading to the tourist destination.
With weather conditions improving, authorities have now permitted tourists to visit the area again, allowing tourism-related activities and businesses to resume.
