SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday launched a people’s movement against narcotics under the ‘Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir’ campaign, stating that the next three months would be crucial in building the foundation for long-term transformation in the Union Territory.
Addressing a public rally in Kathua, LG Sinha stressed that the initiative would focus on compassionate rehabilitation and called for a change in societal perception towards addiction.
He said addicts should be treated as patients who require care, support, and assistance.
Urging collective resolve to fight the drug menace, the Lt Governor emphasized the need to channelize youth energy in a positive direction.
He said the aim is to build a Jammu and Kashmir where the youth’s potential contributes to global progress rather than self-destruction.
LG Sinha further said that the three-month drive would not be a routine exercise but a transformative campaign aimed at ensuring lasting change in the region.
