Employee Coordination Committee Warns of Protest Over Pending Demands in Jammu Kashmir

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Employees Coordination Committee (JKECC) on Saturday warned of a peaceful protest on January 17 if the government failed to address their long-standing demands.

Addressing a press conference, JKECC President Shah Fayaz, expressed concern over the government’s lack of seriousness in resolving employee issues, particularly those related to Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and salary discrepancies among NHM employees and contractual college lecturers in the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

He highlighted other unresolved issues, including the pay anomalies of horticulture employees, the reorganisation of the fisheries department, concerns of agriculture technology management employees, vocational trainers, helpers, Anganwadi AAYAs, CPWs’ wages, gender coordinators, and leave salaries for teachers involved in the Yuva Mission survey, among others.

“We have a long list of unresolved issues, with minimum wages being a top priority. After thoroughly deliberating on these matters, we have decided to hold a peaceful protest demonstration on 17 January as a last resort to get our issues resolved,” Shah said.

He added, “While we understand that policy matters take time, daily routine issues of employees should not be neglected. We do not seek confrontation, but the non-resolution of these issues has left us with no option but to protest.”

Shah urged all employees to gather at Sher-e-Kashmir Park in Srinagar on 17 January, from where they will proceed to the Press Colony. (KINS)
