The chargesheet in FIR No. 67/2021, registered under Sections 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating) and 471 (using forged documents as genuine) of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC), was filed before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, against Fayaz Ahmad Zarger, son of Mohammad Shafi Zarger, a resident of Qutub Din Pora, Aali Kadal, near Jamia Masjid, Srinagar.

According to the Crime Branch, the case was registered following a written complaint alleging that the accused, who operated M/s HR Choice International Education Consultancy at Karan Nagar, Srinagar, had lured the complainant with assurances of securing a job in Bahrain.

Investigation revealed that the accused allegedly adopted a similar modus operandi with several other aspirants, collecting lakhs of rupees from them while providing forged job offer letters, visas, air tickets and other fabricated documents to make the recruitment process appear genuine.

To gain the victims’ confidence, the accused allegedly arranged online interviews, medical examinations and executed agreements before promising overseas placement. However, investigators found that no employment was ever arranged and the money collected from the victims was neither refunded nor returned.

The EOW said the allegations were substantiated during the investigation. After completing all legal formalities, the chargesheet was presented before the competent court for judicial proceedings.

The Crime Branch has urged the public to remain vigilant against fraudulent job and immigration rackets and report any suspected cases of economic fraud to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Economic Offences Wing, Kashmir. Victims can also submit complaints through the EOW’s official email.
