The National Conference led coalition government has paid up for the treatment expenses of the Parraypora acid attack victim at Delhi’s Indraprashtha Appolo Hospital. The 30 year old school teacher, who had been attacked with acid by a local youth, at Parraypora locality in city has been discharged from the hospital on Jan 29.

Admitted under No 374213 at the Apollo Hospital on Jan 4, the patient was to undergo specialised reconstructive surgery of her face, with the government paying up all the dues amounting to the tune of 7, 83, 210.

As reported by a local wire agency, National Conference Provincial President, Nasir Aslam Wani, while confirming that the state government had paid for the treatment expenses of the victim, castigated PDP for what he called mere emotional lip service. He said all the treatment expenses were paid on the instructions of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah with government also having made arrangements for the families boarding and lodging at the Kashmir House in Delhi.

Nasir accused PDP of trying to befool people by making announcements through party leader Dr Sameer Koul that they would bear the treatment expenses. “These are hollow emotional claims. Neither did they pay for the charges nor did they make any effort to do so. They even did not contact the victim’s family leave aside visiting her”, said Nasir He said he had gone to see the patient personally on the instructions of the Chief Minister.

“PDP is trying to emotionalising issues and their tall claims turned out to be false. NC’s attitude has always been pro people”, he said.

Meanwhile, when contacted, PDP leader and country’s leading doctor rubbished the NC claims that they made no effort to pay for the treatment expenses of the victim. He claimed that the government had in advance directed the hospital authorities not to accept payment of the dues by anyone other than the state government. “This is a cheap claim. They had directed the hospital authorities not to accept payment. It is unfortunate and I believe they should not try to get political gains out of this issue. They should not make such statements”, Koul said.
