SRINAGAR: Flight operations at Srinagar International Airport were disrupted on Tuesday evening due to gusty winds and a sudden hailstorm that affected parts of the Kashmir Valley. One flight was cancelled, while several others were diverted or delayed.
A senior official at Srinagar Airport said that turbulent weather conditions disrupted air traffic in the evening. Strong winds created difficulties during landing and take-off, forcing several flights to divert to nearby airports, including Chandigarh.
He said that flights on the Srinagar–Jammu route were among the worst affected and have been fully cancelled until further notice.
The disruption left many passengers stranded at the airport, as airlines adjusted schedules and waited for weather conditions to improve.
Incoming flights from Delhi and other cities were delayed. Some were held mid-air, while others were instructed to return to their origin airports.
The Kashmir Valley witnessed heavy rain and a hailstorm on Tuesday afternoon, which disrupted normal life and led to waterlogging on roads and streets across Srinagar city. (KNO)
