SRINAGAR

A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi called his Pakistani counterpart on phone showing keenness to restore normalcy between the two countries, former Chief of Indian’s premier Intelligence Agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), Amarjit Singh Dulat Saturday said that besides talking to Pakistan Government of India should also engage the Kashmiri separatist leaders into dialouge.

“If India can talk to Pakistan why not with Hurriyat leaders of Kashmir. In a bid to create peace and order, Government of India should start a dialogue with Hurriyat leaders in Kashmir,” Dulat told Srinagar based news agency CNS adding that talking to any country or leader is always fruitful.

He said that the willingness of India to send its Foreign Secretary to Pakistan is a good sign. “Whether you indulge in back channel dialogue or use open channel, both ways it is good and beneficial. Durani-Doval back channel dialogue is also good and will certainly show positive results,” he said.

Responding to a question, A.S.Dulat said that Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders always compalin that their dialogue with India did not bear any results. “Hurriyat leaders should understand that it takes time to get results and they must show maturity to seal any deal,” he said.
