SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said his government will fill more than 30,000 vacancies across departments in Jammu and Kashmir within the current year, reaffirming a time-bound recruitment drive to bolster public services.
Replying to a question from Gharu Ram Bhagat during Question Hour in the ongoing Budget Session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, the Chief Minister said vacancies arise periodically due to retirements, promotions, resignations and other administrative factors.
He told the House that institutional mechanisms are in place for the regular assessment of vacancies and their timely referral to the appropriate recruiting agencies in line with statutory provisions.
Abdullah added that departments maintain adequate staff strength to ensure essential and field-level services are not disrupted. Where required, interim administrative arrangements are made under established rules.
The government has introduced measures to accelerate recruitment, he said, including advance identification and consolidation of vacancies, time-bound referral of requisitions, streamlined procedures, close administrative monitoring, and safeguards to enhance efficiency and transparency in the hiring process.
