Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Syed Ali Geelani Tuesday reiterated his appeal for complete boycott of upcoming elections citing India always exploited these elections for their own interest.

“It is not our hobby to ask people to stay away from elections but it was after 1989 that resistance leaders, after a great deliberation and taking into account all its negative and positive impact over ongoing movement, formulated a conscience that state being a disputed zone and in presence of eight lakh armed forces, the elections have lost their credibility,” Geelani said in a statement issued to Global news Service.

He said it has been decided that India would exploit and portray these elections for their interests by convincing the world that people of Jammu and Kashmir were taking part in elections and have confirmed their faith in instrument of accession with India.

Geelani said that freedom spirit is strong and with every passing day, the passion and faith with movement gets rejuvenated. He said that after every five or six years, the election drama is being staged here, ‘and our sacrifices are being smashed”.

APHC Chairman in his appeal to people said that there is no need to be disappointed as till date there has not been any freedom movement that failed. “Any colonial power could not live forever; it may take time to achieve freedom. India’s military might cannot force us to give our spirit, courage and principle but they have to bend before our dedication and commitment.”

He said that pro-Indian leaders supporting Indian designs are equally responsible for the difficulties the nation face.”They have always favored their arbitrary measures.”

Hurriyat Chairman in his telephonic address to mourners paid glorious tributes to three slain youth in Tral. He said that to secure and ensure safe future of nation, our youth prefer to fight against oppression and injustice. “Instead of living a desperate life they prefer dignified death.”

Geelani said that though India has perpetrated the arbitrary measures to muzzle the voices of Kashmiris, but “people in spite of all these are striving to achieve freedom from occupant forces”.

APHC Chairman extended his condolence to the bereaved families and impressed upon the mourners that for these unprecedented sacrifices, all of us owe a debt to these martyrs.
