Admissions are open for a broad array of Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Certificate, Diploma, and Postgraduate Diploma programmes, offered in both Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Online modes. Applicants can apply by visiting the website, after creating a user ID and password. They must ensure they have a valid mobile number, email ID, scanned academic documents, photograph, and online payment facility before initiating the process.

The University has made it mandatory for all applicants to generate a DEB ID before beginning the admission process. The detailed guidelines for DEB ID creation are available on the website.

As part of its ongoing academic expansion, IGNOU has introduced nearly 60 new programmes, including Four-Year Undergraduate Programmes (FYUPs) in disciplines such as Commerce, Economics, History, Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology, Anthropology, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu, Social Work, Philosophy, Biochemistry, and Facilities & Service Management.

In the postgraduate stream, new offerings include M.Sc. in Geography, Geo-Informatics, Applied Statistics, Renewable Energy, Industrial Safety, Environmental Science, and M.A. in Corporate Social Responsibility, Urban Studies, Population and Family Health Studies, Journalism and Digital Media, Applied Urdu, Arabic, Russian, and French, among others. A new MBA in Health Care and Hospital Management has also been introduced.

Dr A.H. Rizvi, Regional Director of IGNOU Regional Centre Srinagar, encouraged students in Kashmir Division and Ladakh to take advantage of the extended deadline and enrol in programmes of their choice without delay. He also warned prospective learners against falling prey to fraudulent individuals or agencies soliciting payments via QR codes, WhatsApp, or social media. “IGNOU does not accept any admission fee through unofficial channels,” he emphasised.

To promote inclusive education, IGNOU continues to offer a 50 per cent fee concession for SC/ST students in select undergraduate programmes, including Bachelor of Arts (BAM), Bachelor of Commerce (BCOMF), and Bachelor of Science (BSCM).

The deadline for re-registration of all continuing students in their second or third year under ODL and Online mode has also been extended to 31st July 2025. Students are advised to complete the process well before the deadline to avoid last-minute difficulties.
