A fresh batch of 60 aspiring entrepreneurs including eight females Friday passed out from Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) after completing three-week training programme.

The candidates were trained at the institute’s Pampore campus, a statement from training institute said.

“The candidates trained were from varied educational background and have chosen agri-allied sectors like dairy and sheep farming, food processing and poultry rearing as their lines of activity,” the statement said.

The unemployed youth, who are now all set to start their business ventures, the statement maintained, “were exposed to a comprehensive training course, Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) to equip them with what they need to start a profitable business.”

“They were exposed to a real-life business scenario through simulations. They also had interactions with successful entrepreneurs. The participants who are motivated enough to start their entrepreneurial ventures shared their experiences on the valedictory,” the statement added.

Qutoing Dawar, marketing post-graduate and an aspiring entrepreneur, the statement said, “The training programme was quite helpful to remove the apprehensions of venturing into the world of entrepreneurship and at the same time helped us to understand what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur.”

The statement further informed that the candidates have registered for the Seed Capital Fund Scheme (SCFS) – a key component of the state government’s Sher-e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for Youth (SKEWPY), and Youth Start-Up Loan Scheme (YSLS) being implemented by JKEDI.

The institute from time to time offers a platform to entrepreneurs to enable them to set up their ventures through a host of services like consultancy, information, training, education and finance, the statement concluded.
