Seeking a strong and decisive mandate for his party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Patron, Mufti Sayeed today declared that his government would change the destiny of J&K and its people during the next six years. He said PDP is now the only voice left in J&K to represent its regional aspirations and safeguard its unique constitutional guarantees.

“Give my party a decisive mandate in the upcoming assembly elections and I assure you that with the help of God the new government headed by PDP would mark a dawn of new hope for the State,” Mufti told a public rally.

“My sole objective is to end the pain and miseries of the people of J&K once for all and provide them a government that strives for their larger political empowerment and inclusive prosperity,” he said and added that he doesn’t believe in rhetoric and mud-slinging for political survival, but has strong faith in the fact that people value only performance and delivery.

Mufti said the winds of change are today blowing from every nook and corner of the State and in the coming days and months these are going to breathe new life into J&K’s politics and economy. “The only way forward for J&K today is to elect a strong, stable and effective government which can safeguard its distinct political and economic interests,” he said.

He said the people, more than ever before, are today yearning for change, not only to see the worst ever regime out, but to seek the resolution of political and economic issues that matter to them. “No wonder PDP has become the first choice of the people as it symbolizes sincerity, hope, optimism, vision and a deep commitment to equality and justice,” he said and added that the only way forward for J&K today is to choose a government that has the commitment and seriousness to face-up to the challenges confronting the State.

Mufti said if elected his government would revive and speed up the revolutionary political and developmental initiatives which were kick-started in 2002 by the government headed by him. “My government would not only strive for the dignified resolution of the Kashmir issue, but would, as well, seek holistic solution of the politico-economic issues confronting Jammu and Kashmir,” he said and added his government’s priority would be to address the development deficit in crucial sectors including power, education, health, road communication, social security and employment generation.

Addressing the rally, PDP President, Ms Mehbooba Mufti said having suffered terribly during the past six years under NC-Congress anarchist regime, the people feel they have had enough of it and want a reliable regime under the leadership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to pull the State out of the morass and put it back on the track of peace, progress and development.

MP Muzaffar Hussain Beigh accused the successive NC Government’s of having only brought death, destruction and darkness to the State. “NC has all along been thriving on political uncertainty and boycott politics and that’s why whenever it came to power it has promoted the both,” he said and added that whether by facilitating the secret execution of Muhammad Afzal Guru or ensuring revival of the gory era of killings, NC is again trying to play the old trick of fuelling political uncertainty to grab power.

With six years of his tenure over, He challenged Omar to show one major and visible developmental project pioneered, executed and accomplished by his government in any part of the State. “While on the other hand the signposts of landmark developmental interventions made by the PDP government headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed during its brief tenure of three years are visible in every nook and corner of the State in the shape of new universities, new institutions, colleges, power projects, flyovers, roads, bridges, tourism development authorities, parks, beautification programmes and so on and so forth,” he said and added that PDP pledges to revise and review that whole process afresh after January 2015.
