Some 50 km North of summer capital, Sopore is slipping under mounting stress triggered by mysterious killings that already devoured four men in week’s time. With Kashmir shut to protest the killing spree, Bilal Bahadur captures street mood of Sopore and Srinagar

Sopore is reluctant to come out of the sense of unease instilled by the baffling bloodletting. With the four families continue mourning over the loss of their departed ones, the whole town and periphery are shut to commemorate the losses.

Whatever is happening in Sopore has sent an apparent sense of spillover in Srinagar. The summer capital is shut on a joint strike call issued by separatists.

The joint strike call issued by Hurriyat (G), Hurriyat (M) and JKLF was supported by all separatist groups in the Kashmir.

Due to strike, traffic mostly remains off the road. Apart from Kashmir valley, Bhaderwah is also reportedly observing a shutdown over Sopore killings.

In Sopore, where six persons have been shot dead in 24 days, Police Tuesday put up posters of two militants with a Rs Million bounty on each head. Police say the duo is behind the killing spree.

On Tuesday night, a sense of fright deepens in Sopore after a grenade was thrown at Telecom Tower, again.
