Among them, two are citizens of Pakistan, while one hails from Kashmir, media reports said.

The detained individuals have been identified as Mohammed Altaf Bhat, Sayyed Gajanfar – both Pakistani nationals – and Nasir Ali from Srinagar. ATS officials disclosed that one of the arrestees, Mohammed Altaf Bhat, underwent training from Hizbul Mujahideen with the backing of ISI. Together with Sayyed Gajanfar and Nasir, they were scheming militant activities within India.

As per reports, Nilabja Chaudhary, Inspector General of ATS, said that the agency had been receiving intelligence regarding the infiltration of Pakistanis into India through the Nepal border, facilitated by the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI. Chaudhary stated, “Intelligence also indicated their intent to perpetrate terrorist attacks in India, having undergone training at Hizbul Mujahideen’s camps, supported by ISI.”

Upon receiving this intelligence, the ATS initiated operations through electronic and physical surveillance in Gorakhpur. They intercepted the two Pakistanis and their associate at Farenda village in Sonauli, near the Indo-Nepal border. All three had undergone training at Hizbul Mujahideen’s training facilities.
