Officials said that the meeting was held at the Chakan-Da-Bagh cross-point, led by brigadier-level officers from both sides. “They discussed border management,” the officials added.

Notably, this was the second such meeting between the two sides this month. “The flag meetings are a routine part of LoC and border management processes in accordance with the understanding between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries,” a defence spokesperson said.

He added that Thursday’s meeting was conducted to deliberate on routine issues along the LoC. Meanwhile, official sources, according to KNO, said that Indian Army officers also raised concerns regarding infiltration attempts, ceasefire violations, and recent IED blasts with their counterparts and lodged a formal protest.

It may be recalled that on April 2, a brigade commander-level flag meeting had also taken place at the Chakan-Da-Bagh crossing point area. That meeting, which lasted 75 minutes, saw both sides emphasising the importance of maintaining peace along the borders.

Ceasefire violations along the LoC have remained rare since India and Pakistan renewed the ceasefire agreement on 25 February 2021. (KNO)
