SRINAGAR: Renowned Indian playback singer Asha Bhosle has died at the age of 92 at Breach Candy Hospital, where she had been undergoing treatment for severe exhaustion and a chest infection. She was admitted to the South Mumbai hospital on Saturday evening.

Widely admired for her versatility and powerful voice, she was regarded as one of the most influential figures in the Indian music industry. Over a career spanning more than six decades, she became a defining presence in Bollywood music, recording numerous iconic songs across genres and languages.
Her passing marks the end of an era in Indian music, with tributes pouring in from across the industry and her vast fan base.
The younger sister of Lata Mangeshkar, she recorded over 12,500 songs in multiple languages during a career that extended across eight decades. She lent her voice to leading actresses including Meena Kumari, Madhubala, Zeenat Aman, Kajol, Urmila Matondkar, as well as southern film stars such as Padmini and Vyjayanthimala.
