SRINAGAR: The District Administration Jammu has sanctioned Rs 1.07 crore in relief for 231 families whose houses were damaged in recent floods and landslides, with the entire amount disbursed directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
The decision was taken during a District Level Committee meeting chaired by Sher Singh, Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Jammu. The meeting, attended by key officials including ACR Dr Rajesh Kumar and Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), assessed the verified cases of damage and recommended financial assistance.
Following the committee’s recommendations, Deputy Commissioner Dr Rakesh Minhas formally approved the sanction of Rs 1,07,00,000 in favour of the affected households.
This initiative aims to ensure timely and transparent relief to those in distress, with funds being transferred directly to avoid delays or involvement of intermediaries.
Officials confirmed that damage assessments are ongoing, with further relief measures expected in accordance with established norms. Meanwhile, rehabilitation and restoration work continues across flood-affected areas in coordination with various line departments to restore essential services and normalcy.
The administration reaffirmed its commitment to prioritising the welfare of disaster-affected residents and providing uninterrupted support during recovery efforts.
