SRINAGAR: At least 35 villagers from Kotliparran in Manjakot tehsil of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district have been hospitalised following a suspected outbreak of waterborne disease, according to media reports.
As per media reports, the affected individuals developed symptoms such as stomach pain, fever, diarrhoea, and dehydration over the past few days. While most are stable, four have been referred to Government Medical College (GMC), Rajouri for further treatment.
A medical team from the health department visited the village and collected water samples from three local wells. The district administration has sealed the sources pending lab results. Officials suspect contaminated drinking water as the possible cause.
Preliminary observations from the community medicine department point to a likely outbreak of acute gastroenteritis, reports suggest.
The incident comes months after a mysterious illness claimed 17 lives, including 13 children, in Badhaal village of Rajouri.
