SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir has exported 508.29 thousand metric tonnes (MTs) of fruit over the past two years, generating revenue of Rs 2,806.22 crore.

According to data from the Agriculture Production Department (Horticulture), Baramulla district emerged as the largest contributor, with Sopore Mandi alone exporting 184.52 thousand MTs of fruit, accounting for Rs 992 crore. Another market in Baramulla, Kanispora Mandi, exported 0.96 thousand MTs, with a turnover of Rs 3.51 crore.
Shopian ranked second, exporting 125.73 thousand MTs of fruit through Aglar Mandi, generating revenue of Rs 657.53 crore.
Srinagar’s Parimpora Mandi also played a key role, exporting 40.45 thousand MTs and recording a turnover of Rs 258.30 crore.
Other major contributors include Pulwama, where Prichoo Mandi exported 27.45 thousand MTs (Rs 157.68 crore), and Pachhar Mandi shipped 20.81 thousand MTs (Rs 115.33 crore).
Anantnag’s Batingo Mandi exported 22.42 thousand MTs, earning Rs 87.04 crore, while Kupwara’s Handwara Mandi recorded exports of 28.28 thousand MTs, generating Rs 96.04 crore.
In the Jammu division, Narwal Mandi made a significant contribution, exporting 25.01 thousand MTs and generating Rs 170.32 crore.
Some districts reported lower export figures, including Ganderbal (6.78 thousand MTs, Rs 29 crore), Budgam (6.30 thousand MTs, Rs 30.27 crore), and Kupwara’s second mandi (2.56 thousand MTs, Rs 148.20 crore). (KNO)
