An order issued by Registrar General M K Sharma on October 30 said the criteria and norms prescribed under High Court Order No. 178 dated June 11, 2013, for assessing the continued utility of judicial officers at the ages of 50, 55 and 58 years, would henceforth also apply to officers beyond 60 years.

The decision has been taken in pursuance of a Full Court resolution dated October 28, 2026, the order stated.

The order, numbered 1709 of 2026/RG, was issued by the Registrar General’s office in Srinagar on October 30.

By extending the existing assessment framework, the High Court has provided for the same prescribed norms to be applied when evaluating the continued utility of judicial officers beyond the age of 60 years.
