Jammu Kashmir Medical Council Issues Notice on Unregistered Medical Practitioners in Private Clinics

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Medical Council has issued a stern warning to all private medical establishments operating in the region, urging them not to allow any allopathic medical practitioners to practice without proper registration with the Council. This includes single practitioner clinics, poly-clinics, infertility centres, rehabilitation and de-addiction centres, hospices, domiciliary care providers, mobile clinics, and medical camp service providers.

The notice comes after the Council observed that several private clinics and medical establishments in Jammu and Kashmir were permitting practitioners—both local and from outside the state—to operate without registering with the J&K Medical Council, which is in violation of medical ethics and regulations. The Council emphasized that this practice not only breaches professional conduct but also poses serious risks to patient safety and undermines the healthcare system’s integrity.

The J&K Medical Council has made it clear that all proprietors or managers of such establishments are strictly prohibited from allowing any doctor to perform clinical consultations, surgeries, procedures, investigations, or therapies without being registered with the J&K Medical Council. This includes both permanent registrations and any additional qualifications that may be required.

To rectify the situation, the Council has urged all unregistered practitioners to apply for registration through the J&K Medical Council’s official website, www.jkmedicalcouncil.in, ensuring compliance with the regulations. Failure to adhere to these directives will result in disciplinary action against the concerned medical professionals under the Professional Conduct, Etiquette & Ethics Regulations, 2002.
