SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir received Rs 2,555.14 crore in Central assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Gramin (PMAY-G) during the last three financial years, while no funds have been released to the Union Territory so far in the current financial year, according to figures tabled in the Rajya Sabha.
The Ministry of Rural Development said PMAY-G aims to construct 4.95 crore rural houses by March 2029, including the earlier target of 2.95 crore houses. The scheme provides financial support to eligible rural families for building pucca houses with basic amenities as part of the Government’s larger goal of ensuring housing for all.
Nationally, the Central share released during the last three years stood at Rs 88,838.77 crore. In the ongoing financial year 2025-26, Rs 7,355.54 crore has been disbursed through the SNA model and Rs 16,452.85 crore through the SNA SPARSH mechanism. Among major States, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Assam recorded the highest fund inflows during the current year.
The Ministry said an Empowered Committee headed by the Secretary, Rural Development, reviews progress while approving annual action plans. It added that monitoring is carried out through real-time MIS tracking on AwaasSoft, a dedicated analytics dashboard, Performance Review Committee meetings with States and UTs, inspections by central teams and social audits. The DISHA Committee, headed by Members of Parliament, also reviews implementation at the district level.
