SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir has recorded a total of 46,99,015 diabetes patients as of 30 November 2024, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Friday.
According to data, 43,18,708 individuals have been screened for diabetes, 3,41,071 have been diagnosed with the condition, and 3,40,236 are currently undergoing treatment.
The government noted that the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, provides technical and financial support to states and Union Territories under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NP-NCD), a part of the National Health Mission (NHM).
“This programme focuses on strengthening infrastructure, developing human resources, facilitating early diagnosis, ensuring referrals for treatment, and promoting health to prevent non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including diabetes,” it said.
“A population-based initiative for the screening, management, and prevention of common NCDs, including diabetes, has been launched under the Comprehensive Primary Health Care framework of NHM,” the government added. (KNO)
