A day after opposition PDP extended help to acid victim, Jammu and Kashmir government  on the instructions of the state Chief Minister Omar Abdullah  has decided to bear all expenses on the treatment of the Parraypora acid attack victim, who was on Friday  shifted to the Apollo Hospital in New Delhi.

Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Sham Lal Sharma said that on the instructions of the Chief Minister , all the expenses for treatment till complete recovery of the victim will be borne by the state government.

“I have already talked to the authorities at Appolo Hospital New Delhi and told them that the state government will bear all the expenses for treatment of the acid attack victim”, said Sharma.

He said the central government has also kept all options open for the state regarding services of expert doctors for the victim. They have offered full support in this regard, he added.

When asked why the government was now announcing the decision when the opposition PDP has already offered and communicated the assistance to the victim, he said, “Whether it is PDP or any other party, no one should politicize the issue. It is the job of state government to provide the victim assistance and we’re doing that”. It is an unfortunate incident and should be seen through a broader view, he added.

He said that the act is condemnable and the culprits of the offense will be brought to justice.

Sharma called upon parents, social activists and religious leaders to play a role in ensuring that such incidents don’t occur in the society.
