Three batches comprising of 157 aspiring entrepreneurs including 68 females have passed out from Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) after completing the three-week training programs in Poonch and Kishtwar districts of Jammu division.

The candidates were trained at DECC Poonch, ITI Mendhar, Tehsil Office Mandi and DECC Kishtwar under Seed Capital Fund Scheme (SCFS) being implemented by the institute for entrepreneurship development in the State.

The three 21-day Entrepreneurship Development Programs (EDPs) were modelled for manufacturing, services and agri-allied sectors so as to enable the aspirants chose from a range of entrepreneurial activities viable in their respective areas.

Sharing their experiences at the valediction ceremony, the trained aspirants hailed the training curriculum which they said has given them confidence to start their entrepreneurial journey. The participants were having varied educational background including some management graduates and Bachelors in Dental Surgery (BDS). The aspiring aspirants are in the age group of 18 to 37 years.

“The 21-day-long training of JKEDI has boosted my confidence. It has shown me the way to realize the dream of setting up my own a one-stop shop for women needs,” said Mehjabeen of Mendhar, Poonch on the conclusion of the training program.

The unemployed youth, who are all set to start their entrepreneurial journey said they expect further handholding by JKEDI once they start their business ventures.

EDPs (training) are part of institute’s on-going process to reach every nook and corner of the state and equip unemployed youth with life sustainable business skills. The EDPs are aimed at providing lessons on skill development, performance improvement as well as business cum sector specific and self-development training to the participating youth.
