SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir’s toll tax revenue has significantly increased over the past five years, rising from Rs 130.07 crore in 2019-20 to Rs 436.86 crore in 2023-24, according to data presented in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.
Despite this growth, JK remains among the states with the lowest toll collection in the country. In comparison, Uttar Pradesh recorded Rs 6,695.40 crore and Rajasthan Rs 5,549.48 crore in 2023-24. Even Punjab, which saw a dip in toll collection to Rs 282.15 crore in 2020-21, surged to Rs 1,491.94 crore in 2023-24—more than three times JK’s revenue.
The data also shows a steady year-on-year increase in JK’s toll revenue. After a drop to Rs 108.75 crore in 2020-21, collections rebounded to Rs 194.81 crore in 2021-22, followed by Rs 409.96 crore in 2022-23, before reaching Rs 436.86 crore in 2023-24. (KNO)
