SRINAGAR: In a surprising turn of events, an apple trader from Kashmir took matters into his own hands by seeking justice directly from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during the Janata Darbar. Abdus Salam, the aggrieved trader, complained about a local trader in Gorakhpur, alleging non-payment of Rs 29 lakh for apple supplies, Hindustan Times reported on Saturday.

The Shahpur police station in-charge, Shashi Bhushan Rai, verified that the CM’s office had forwarded the complaint to the police on Saturday. Subsequently, an inquiry has been initiated into the matter to ascertain the facts and resolve the financial dispute.

According to the details outlined in the application submitted by Abdus Salam, he had supplied apples totalling Rs 69,62,033 to Krishna Yadav, a fruit trader residing in the Shahpur police station area of Gorakhpur district. Despite the substantial transaction, Yadav had reportedly only paid Rs 40 lakh last year.

Salam claimed that when he pressed for the outstanding amount, Yadav resorted to threats of filing a complaint with the chief minister. Undeterred, Salam decided to take matters into his own hands and sought justice at the Gorakhnath temple. This prompted the police to intervene and initiate a formal inquiry into the alleged financial discrepancy.

The unfolding incident underscores the significance of public forums like the Janata Darbar in addressing grievances directly to the highest authorities. The police, now actively investigating the case, will play a crucial role in determining the legitimacy of the Apple trader’s complaint and ensuring a fair resolution to the financial dispute.
