Moderate to heavy rains in plains and snowfall in upper areas can trip the temperature to as low as 7 degrees Celsius in next three days in J&K, weatherman Sonam Lotus said.
“A Western Disturbance over J&K and its interaction with monsoon currents over North West India is likely to affect the state from today (Wednesday) to (Saturday) with occasional gaps,” Sonam Lotus, Director Meteorological Department said. “Under the influence of this weather system, moderate to heavy rain/thundershower and snowfall over higher reaches will occur at most places in Kashmir & Jammu divisions and at a few places in Ladakh region particularly along Srinagar-Jammu, Srinagar-Leh, and Leh-Manali Road .” Lotus said.
“Some places may receive heavy to very heavy rain/shower during this period,” he said, warning that these weather condition may trigger landslide and flash flood in vulnerable areas of the state.
“Above weather system may disrupt surface and air transport during these days. During above period day temperatures may fall by 7-8 deg Celsius,” he added.
