Amid clashes between protesters and forces, complete shutdown was observed in Kashmir over the killing of Gowhar Ahmad Dar of Zainakote in Srinagar outskirts.
According to KNS, protesters clashed with forces in Zainakote, Maisuma, down town areas of the Srinagar district. Dozens of youth were injured in these clashes as police and paramilitary forces fired teargas shells to disperse the agitated youth.
Reports said that agitated youth pelted stones towards forces and shouted pro-freedom and anti-India slogans over the killing of Gowhar, 21, who was killed by a teargas shell during clashes with protesters in Zainakote area in Srinagar outskirts Saturday evening.
Police and paramilitary forces were deployed in the district to thwart protests. And they lobbed teargas and pepper gas canisters towards the protesting youth to disperse them.
Authorities clamped strict restrictions in areas falling under six police of Rainawari, Kralkhud, Nowhatta, Safa Kadal, Mahraj Gunj and Khanyar in Downtown and Maisuma, and Parimpora areas.
Business units, shops and government departments have been shut, while traffic on Highway was also off the roads.
Separatist leaders including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabir Shah, Nayeem Khan, Asiya Andrabi and others continued to remain under detention on Sunday.
Gowhar Ahmad Dar, an engineering student, succumbed in SKIMS Soura on Saturday evening after being hit by a teargas shell. But his family said that he was killed by a bullet fired by CRPF.
