SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Bank on Thursday handed over five eco-friendly e-Carts to the University of Kashmir as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The donation supports the University’s Green Campus Initiative aimed at reducing its carbon footprint and enhancing intra-campus mobility.
At a handover ceremony held on the University campus, the Bank’s Chief General Manager, Imtiyaz Ahmad, formally presented the vehicle keys to Vice Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan. The event was attended by senior university officials, including Registrar Dr Naseer Iqbal, Dean Academic Affairs Prof. Shariefuddin Pirzada, Director of the Institute of Technology Zakura Campus Prof M Tariq Banday, and Dean Students Welfare Prof Parvez Ahmad. Senior bank officials, including Divisional Head (Kashmir) Arshad Qadri and Zonal Head (Srinagar) Layek Ahmad Jan, were also present.
Prof Nilofer Khan praised the initiative, calling it a “great service for the student community”, especially beneficial for female and specially-abled students. She also lauded the long-standing relationship between the University and Jammu and Kashmir Bank, urging the bank to focus future CSR efforts on projects that benefit economically weaker students.
Speaking at the event, Chief General Manager Imtiyaz Ahmad highlighted the bank’s ongoing commitment to green practices and community welfare. “The Green Campus Initiative of University of Kashmir is a visionary step and we are glad to be their partner in this cause,” he said.
Of the five e-Carts, three will be deployed on the Main Campus and two at the Institute of Technology, Zakura Campus, providing eco-friendly mobility for students, staff, and visitors.
The University administration thanked the bank for its continued support and described the CSR gesture as a model for responsible institutional conduct in the region.
