The four-member team, led by Captain Zahoor Ahmad from North Kashmir’s Singhpora Pattan, included Suhail Khan, a deaf and mute sculptor from Kashmir. Representing India on this global stage in Colorado, they worked for four days in freezing temperatures ranging from -25°C to -35°C to craft their masterpiece.

Despite the harsh weather and time constraints, the team transformed a massive block of snow into a remarkable masterpiece.

Captain of the Indian team Zahoor Ahmad said that despite the challenging conditions, Team India’s Mind in Meditation sculpture stood out for its elegance and precision.

He added that the five-member judging panel took over six hours to evaluate the 12 competing sculptures. India ranked third, with Germany securing first place and Mexico taking second.

“This achievement is a significant milestone for Indian snow sculpting, showcasing the country’s talent and creativity on a global stage,” Zahoor Ahmad said.

Suhail Mohammad Khan, the Indian snow artist who is both deaf and mute, also contributed to Team India’s success.

ANI reported that Suhail communicated through a team member, who shared his message with the media. “I am Suhail Mohammad Khan, and though I cannot speak, I am deeply proud of our achievement. For the past two years, I have represented India in the International Snow Sculpture Championship in Colorado. I am a sculpture student at Kashmir University, and winning this award has filled me with joy.”

The International Snow Sculpture Contest is a global event where teams compete to create intricate art from snow. Held in Breckenridge, Colorado, from January 20th to 24th, the competition featured 12 teams from around the world, including participants from the US, Germany, Mexico, Finland, Canada, Mongolia, South Korea, Argentina, and Turkey.
