SRINAGAR: In response to the closure of National Highway NH-44 due to the Ramban tragedy, traffic has been diverted to the Mughal Road. The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kishtwar has cancelled all leave for health staff and placed medical institutions along the alternate route on high alert to ensure uninterrupted services.
According to a circular issued by the CMO, “In view of the closure of National Highway NHW-144 (Jammu–Srinagar) via Ramban, all vehicular traffic has been diverted through the Mughal Road. Consequently, all health institutions located along the Mughal Road corridor—from Sunderbani to Bhimber Gali and Dehra Ki Gali—are hereby placed on high alert and are directed to remain fully functional on a 24×7 basis until further orders.”
The order further reads, “All types of leave, including casual leave, earned leave, and station leave, for medical officers, paramedical staff, drivers, support staff, and administrative personnel posted in these institutions are hereby cancelled with immediate effect. The only exception to this order is maternity leave, which will continue to be granted as per existing norms.”
Block Medical Officers (BMOs) have been instructed to deploy staff through rational rotation and ensure that night duty rosters are strictly maintained. Ambulances, emergency medicines, fuel, and other essential logistics must be kept available at all times.
The circular also directs BMOs to deploy Mobile Medical Teams along the Mughal Road to provide immediate assistance to travellers and accident victims.
The CMO has further emphasised that any difficulty or untoward incident must be reported without delay. Non-compliance with the directive will be viewed seriously and dealt with under relevant service rules. (JKNS)
