SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday extended greetings to the people on the occasion of Shab-e-Baraat, emphasising prayers, forgiveness and peace.
In his message, LG Manoj Sinha said Shab-e-Baraat offers devotees an opportunity to seek divine pardon, blessings and wisdom. He said the sacred night encourages self-reflection and a deeper bond with the Almighty, while reminding people to live with truth, humility and kindness. He prayed for peace, prosperity and happiness for all.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also conveyed his greetings, describing Shab-e-Baraat as a night of prayer, repentance and seeking the mercy of Allah. He highlighted the spiritual significance of the occasion and urged people to imbibe its true spirit by praying for peace, harmony and the welfare of humanity.
The Chief Minister also prayed for peace, prosperity and overall progress for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Shab-e-Baraat, one of the most significant nights in Islam, will be observed in 2026 from the evening of February 3 to the evening of February 4. Observed on the 15th night of Sha’ban, the eighth month of the Islamic calendar, the night is widely known as the Night of Forgiveness, when Muslims engage in prayers, seek mercy and reflect on their actions.
