LG Manoj Sinha Reaffirms Commitment to Women’s Empowerment

   

SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha attended the ‘Sashakt Nari Samman’ event organised by Buddha Art & Painting in collaboration with Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, as part of the International Women’s Day celebrations in Jammu and Kashmir, on Saturday.

He lauded the achievements of women artists and artisans, acknowledging their contributions to the region and the nation.

Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor extended his greetings to Nari Shakti and underscored their crucial role in shaping the future of humanity. He highlighted the unique ability of women to nurture creativity and drive social change, stating that their participation in the contemporary art and craft sector has enriched cultural traditions and strengthened the sector.

He described women artists and artisans as the architects of sustainable development, emphasising that their success is driven by love, kindness, and compassion. He noted that many artisans in Jammu and Kashmir, as well as across India, have reached significant milestones, while others continue to pave the way for a brighter future.

The Lieutenant Governor reiterated his commitment to the socio-economic empowerment of women, ensuring a conducive environment for them to realise their potential. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for leading a mass movement on women empowerment and emphasised that Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing a new era of women-led development, with women becoming active partners in the region’s progress.

He urged artists, artisans, NGOs, teachers, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders to work collectively for women empowerment and to ensure that government schemes dedicated to Nari Shakti reach the grassroots level.

During the event, the Lieutenant Governor felicitated women achievers and students. He also visited stalls showcasing the work of women artists and artisans. Organisations and individuals were honoured for their contributions to women’s empowerment.

The event was attended by former Minister of State Priya Sethi, Buddha Art & Painting Founder Sanjogita Dogra, senior officers from police and civil administration, heads of educational institutions, women achievers, artists, artisans, teachers, and students.
