Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha extended warm greetings to the people on the occasion, emphasising the teachings of Jesus Christ—love, compassion, and forgiveness—as guiding principles for harmony and brotherhood.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also conveyed his best wishes, describing Christmas as a festival that embodies peace, love, and unity. He highlighted the secular ethos of the region, urging people to embrace inclusivity and extend a helping hand to the underprivileged.

In Gulmarg, the historic Saint Mary’s Church hosted a special prayer meeting where worshippers prayed for peace and harmony. A unique cake competition has been organised. The church priest called Christmas a celebration of unity and compassion, resonating with the diverse fabric of Kashmir’s society.

Srinagar’s churches, including the Holy Family Catholic Church, are abuzz with preparations for grand celebrations. Churches across the valley have been adorned with decorative lights, and special prayer services are scheduled for Christmas Eve and morning. Locals and visitors alike are enthusiastically participating in the festivities, with cultural programmes and community gatherings planned.

Adding a unique cultural touch, a 30-foot Christmas tree made from dried Chinar leaves and bamboo was unveiled at a hotel near Dal Lake in Srinagar. The tree, blending Kashmiri heritage with festive spirit, has drawn significant attention from locals and tourists, becoming a symbol of the region’s creative and inclusive celebration of global traditions.
