SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the Jammu Kashmir Food Processing and Wellness Conclave in Jammu on Thursday, emphasising the region’s potential and investment opportunities in the hospitality, wellness, and food processing sectors.
During the event, J&K SICOP and Apollo Hospital exchanged land deeds for the establishment of Apollo Hospital in the region.
Sinha welcomed industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders from the hospitality, wellness, and food processing sectors, urging them to explore investment opportunities and foster collaboration during the two-day conclave organized by J&K Trade Promotion Organisation.
The Lt Governor highlighted the administration’s initiatives to facilitate industrial growth and transform J&K into the fastest-growing and most preferred investment destination. “Jammu Kashmir is on a mission to accelerate all-round development, offering incredible destinations and attractive opportunities for investors,” he stated.
He underscored the region’s prominence as the fruit bowl of India, ranking first in the production of Apple, Walnut, Almond, and Saffron. The Lt Governor expressed optimism that the food processing sector’s immense potential would reduce wastage, benefit fruit growers, and drive economic growth.
“In J&K, red tape has been replaced with a red carpet for industries. We are offering opportunities in various fields of food processing, vegetables, bakery production, and nutraceuticals. GI certification will help investors create global brands and adhere to international standards of food safety and quality,” Sinha added.
The Lt Governor invited industry leaders to invest in the UT of Jammu Kashmir and contribute to its developmental journey. He expressed confidence that J&K is poised to emerge as India’s major tourist destination, with a focus on medical tourism and the wellness industry.
The event featured a visit by the Lt Governor to stalls set up by entrepreneurs and business organizations. Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to Lt Governor; Bhupinder Kumar, Secretary, Health and Medical Education; Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department; Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; and other senior officials were present.
